I’m not really a “green” person but I do work in a “green” library (Certified LEED Gold) and I hate waste. Don’t get me wrong, I throw stuff away all the time, unless I can recycle it or reuse it. If I can do either of those things, I will. It’s not so much an environmentalist thing, I just hate throwing away something that’s still perfectly good.

At libraries, we discard books every day. I recycle what I can, and we give a lot of them to our Friends group to sell. Some, however are just nasty and we can’t do much with them except pitch ’em in a bin. Still, it does a eco-friendly librarian’s heart good when he sees a circulation desk that’s not only made out of recycled materials, but made out of recycled books.

One word: SUPERB.
